Default Transfter Images to BB 8700C - 06-15-2008, 01:03 PM

Hi

I've checked all over the place, and I can't find the answer I'm looking for. I am trying to transfer images and sounds to my BB 8700c.

I have found out online that running Desktop Manager 4.2, the Roxio Media Manager doesn't work with the 8700c (Is this false info?)

I just want to transfer a few things, what other programs can I use?
My 8700c doesn't have a media card slot, so I can't enable mass storage mode.

Any Suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you tried to mail the images to yourself?
That should work.

Sounds like a good idea, problem is though I have no BIS. I posted a few days back about my PIN being associated with another account (bought it used), and AT&T doesn't want to help me. So I have to wait a while until I can figure out what else I can do about the data package.

I have the USB cable, DM 4.2, bluetooth (see in the past I was able to connect my BB and my MotoRAZR V3c together with Bluetooth and transfer stuff (that's how I got my images on there before). It worked great, but that was about 3 weeks ago, now when I bond the two together, they stay connected for about 15 seconds, then one of the phones drops eachother).

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

1. If ATT won't release the PIN and you bought the 8700 used, you need to demand a refund from your seller. If ATT never releases the PIN, you have a crippled device which will never be fully functional w/out BIS.

Otherwise, there is no other manner to move media to your 8700, other than email and downloading from the BlackBerry browser direct from a site where you have the images, etc hosted, like a Yahoo briefcase or such.

Okay, I got the bluetooth transfer to work.

For anyone interested in this, here's what I did (I was able to copy images and .mp3/.mid ring tones to my blackberry and they all work!)

Specs
BB 8700C OS 4.2.1.114 (Sending Too)
MotoRZR V3c (Sending From)

For the record, this might work with other phones on both ends, but I don't know how to do it on other ones, but I assume they should be pretty much the same!

First I enabled the bluetooth on both phones and bonded them together.
MotoRZR -
Go into your Media Gallery - Then Pictures or Sounds (Whichever you are going to transfer). Select the media, then use the "Options" button, and go to copy.
From there, select Bluetooth
If it asks you to turn the Bluetooth on, say yes
Stay in the Object Exchange screen, then go to the blackberry

Blackberry
Go into the Applications list, then go into Media
Select either Pictures or Ring Tones (Doesn't Matter)
Then over Preloaded Ringtones or Device Memory, use the wheel click once, and go to Receive Using Bluetooth
The File Transfer Window Will come up, now go back to the other phone

Select your BlackBerry Bluetooth name, it will seek it.
On the blackberry, it will then come up and ask you where you want to save it. It will jump to the pictures folder automatically if you are sending an image, and the Ring Tones folder if you are sending a media clip.

Don't worry about the extension in the rename, it will keep it. After that, go to Save and it will transfer!

That's it!

Hope this helps people who have an 8700, 2 phones (or a laptop with Bluetooth - don't know if it'll work this way though), and don't have BIS!

Using a BB 8700 with DM 4.x, from what I have read and what I have been told, it doesn't look like you can. That's why I posted this stuff.

Yes, you can transfer files via the USB when you have a Media Card.

This user didn't, and didn't have data plan, hence his workaround, which works if you have lots of time.
