Default 8703E Device Cannot start error code 10 - 06-20-2008, 04:10 PM

Hi Everyone!

I recently installed the Blackberry Desktop Software Version 4.3.
The software installed fine; no issues whatsoever. When I plug the USB cord to my 8703E device-the phone charges (which is great). When I launch either the Desktop software or the RIM connection manager the device is not found via USB (only COM1 port is available).

I tried installing the latest USB driver via windows update catalogue for VISTA. When navigate to Device Manager\USB devices I see the 'Blackberry Smartphone" device with a yellow "!". Upon selcting properties is says "this device cannot start code 10".

I read several forum fixes for this and none of them seem to work. I may have missed or overlooked the proper remedy.

Hope someone here can help.

Thanks a million!

Smile Solution Found - 06-21-2008, 08:04 PM

Turned out it was my faulty USB cord-I guess it was somehow damaged. Purchased a new USB cord and Everything is fine now; device is recognized in windows vista SP1 as a Blackberry Smartphone and is synchronized with the Blackberry Desktop Software version 4.3.

Hope this helps...
