Default Using an 8700 w/Nextel - 06-22-2008, 07:44 PM

Currently I have Nextel and am stuck with them for another year. I'd really like to get an 8700 series BB and was wondering if there was any way any of the 8700's would work? I know the T-Mobile one uses a SIM card and is also GSM. I did try searching but would get a "page not able to be displayed" responce. Thanks everyone!

Nextel/Sprint does not use GSM domestically. They only have one blackberry device that is capable of using GSM at all. (the 8830). With iDEN you are very limited. 7100i being the newest, but you go back through to the 7520, 7510 if you can still find them.

Thanks for the quick responces! I'll have to just pick up a 7520 cheap off of eBay. Thanks again!

My employer chooses to use that brand. That is why I went out and got my own device.
If you like smart key, there is always the 7100 to consider

The 7520 is a great device. All of the 7200 series devices are great Blackberrys and are very solid.

Quick follow up question for this thread.

I just found out that Telus, Nextel's Canadian counterpart, has the NEW 8800 series. Past Telus phones used SIM cards, like Nextel, and I believe are mostly interchangable. Anybody have any thoughts on using a Telus 8830 with my Nextel SIM and Nextel account?

Again, I tried searching but didn't come up with a whole lot. Maybe a Telus subscriber will have some input? Thanks...

I don't think the 8800 is iDen compatible. Never heard of it being that way.
