Default Wet Blackberry - 07-13-2008, 06:31 PM

I've dropped my 8703 in the water several times and the latest casualty is that the screen doesn't work. Should I just suck it up and get a new one or can this one be fixed easily?

I let it dry for 48 hours with the battery out.

Leave the battery out - it could take several days.

if it dries and screen does not come on, try to javaloader screen shot to make sure it's actually booting up.. if it is.. get a new screen.. if not it's prob not worth fixing..

I did that to mine and went to alltel and they said to take the battery out and put it and the phone into a ziplock back full of rice (I guess the rice sucks out the moisture). I don't know if they were pulling my leg or what but it worked! I've also heard of putting it in the oven at a very low temp.

I wouldn't try the oven, but the bag of rice with battery out for 24 hrs is a good tip.
