Default SMS char limit cut down from 160 to 70? - 07-13-2008, 08:58 PM

Hi im new here, and have a little issue, b4 i had a normal 160 character limit per sms message, now, it say 1 out of 70 meaning only 70 character per text message? quite annoying because if i txt someone who doesn't have a fancy phone instead of one message they get 2-3. and also because my phone send couple of sms messages at a time it takes awhile for them to be send and received. Any clue to why this happened?
i tried batter pull, and i made sure that my sms settings are set to 7-bit

I'm not sure how to check it, but if you text someone it shows up at the end of your messages everytime. But that should add to the 1 and not take away from the 160. You can always stop by your carrier and see what they say if you can't find the answer here.

Make sure your input language is set to English (United States) in the Language menu. It solved the problem on my BB.

Go to Options and then go to SMS text...

I had the same problem, and changing the DATA coding to 7 bit solved it! Thanks to Hasnom!
