Default 8700 bluetooth issues - 07-15-2008, 05:24 PM

My daughter bought a blackberry 8700 from ebay. Everything works like it should except the bluetooth. It will not let you transfer MP3 to the phone. It just doesn't work Any suggestions?

Default how i fix it - 07-16-2008, 05:09 PM

What OS do you have?

I have the same issue, i fix it upgrading the OS. I did it upgrading to 4.2. Perhaps 4.5 it is the same. i will tell you when i upgrade again.

I came from 4.1 and there was no way to transfer music (mp3) or images in 4.1 via BlueTooth.

Or how can I upgrade the OS of my 8700C to newer version that can support Bluetooth to transfer files like MP3?

Cool bb8700C Bluetooth issue - Today, 02:28 AM

I have a bb 8700c and have the same issue of unable to transfer files to the handset. Finally, after many many trial, I did it. The sequence is as following,
1. Press the middle button for Media.
2. Use dial button to select [Pictures]
3. Roll & press dial button for [Device Memory]
4. Roll & Press dial button for menu to select:
[Receive Using Bluetooth]
Now you can transfer files from other sources to this bb8700C.

This is just an example for transferring files. You can transfer to the Ringtone folder too. I tried the same method for bb8800 too and it works.
To conclude all these, the bluetooth at desktop is not the one for file transferring. it can only work for ear piece or hands free. If you use the one on desktop for file transfer, the result is definite......fail.
I hope this posting can help other fellow user of blackberry. Good Luck.

BT on the 8700 is voice only under OS 4.1, which is what the 8700 shipped with. To try to get data transfer, you need to upgrade to OS 4.2 as a minimum.

I don't use it for data, so I can't be of much more assistance however.

You should also search in this section and see what you find as I know this has come up many times before.
