I just downloaded and upgraded to 4.5 - very easy - Thanks!

I have a BB 8700g from T-mobile. The only issue I am seeing since the upgrade is that the Esc Key is not recognized with Yahoo2Go application. That means that once a function is selected within Y2Go app, I am stuck there. I can exit the app using the thumbwheel. When I restart the app, I arrive at the same function that I last selected with no way back. I have re-booted the BB, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled Y2Go application. Any clues?

I've updated to 4.5.0.52 with success, after just one day of owning the device (8700g)

the only problem I'm having.. and i think I had it BEFORE updating.. is that after downloading a theme I can't find it in my themes.. I've read that I have to go to options/advanced opts/aplications/select theme/change permits/interact/permit
but then after taking out the batery it still doesn't show me the theme... sorry if i've posted this worng, but maybe somene is getting the same???

also.. can I use a theme meant for 4.2 in the 4.5 OS?? ther aren't many 4.5 themes yet are there?

Is this release a BETA or is it an actual release? When other carriers (ATT, etc.) release it, will it be a newer version?

Thanks,

Frank

It is officially released by this carrier. That is why it is posted here, with the information you see.

I am running 4.5.0.52 on an 8700G on T-Mobile and an 8700C on ATT. I have not experienced issues with the Browser on either of them. I have had several issues with my BB Messenger losing my contacts, and this is an ongoing issue.

Well, I'm using an unlocked 8700g with att and once I upgraded to this OS, I have no internet browser. The wap browser this there, but no internet. It's a pain because I can't go to websites like mobile.blackberry.com. I just don't get it. I may have to go back to 4.2.

Have you tried wiping out all of your service books and then resending them from the ATT website?

Yeah, I've done that a couple of times, but with no success.

Post Service book blocked by AT&T - 07-27-2008, 12:02 PM

I ran into this issue when I was running a beta of 4.5 on my 8700c (AT&T). I called the support line about my internet browser being missing, and the rep eventually forwarded me to a RIM tech support rep.

The rep noticed (remotely) that I was running 4.5, but was very helpful and spent about an hour trying to get the "Blackberry Internet Browsing Service [BrowserConfig]" service book onto my phone. At the end, he said that AT&T must have a filter in place to prevent the service book from reaching my 4.5 device (something that the companies can choose to do, and that he can't bypass).

I've noticed that almost all the complaints of "missing browser" are by people on AT&T, so this appears to affect just about everyone with 8700/4.5 on their network.

As a counterpoint, does _anyone_ with 8700/4.5/AT&T have an Internet Browser (not Cingular, but the HTML one) working on their phone?

I also lost my BB browser on my 8300 after installing 4.5...the media net browser is there though which is a shame because I don't use that one! Anyone here have any new suggestions besides the usuall advice to "re-send service books", "register the device" and/or "wipe and re-install os" ...none of that stuff is working guys!

Default 8300c Upgraded to 4.5 35mins - 07-29-2008, 11:10 PM

I just upgraded my phone and it was no problem. I also have only the Cingular browser. My hrt also says Cingular but my Home page service screen shows ATT. My phone actually stated with the ATT theme not my usual BB Today Dimension. Display of Calendar and Contacts looks better to me. Speed is good as well. I dont get HTML email- I thought that was only with BES and the BES upgrade. I am not sure though. I like this and this may surprise some but I am pretty happy to be back on my 8700 after having an 8820 for about 4 months. I really like the roll wheel, the slightly bigger screen and the speed. I think the 8700 is faster than the 8820 and it just feels better in my hand (especially while driving).

You need to go to your web client and resend your service books. at&t BIS2.5 upgrade will get your html emails. but only after you resend your service boks.

I am running 4.5.0.52 on an 8700C with AT&T and have the internet browser working on my phone. My configuration is a little different in that I am running on BES rather than BIS. When I put my AT&T SIM in my unlocked 8700G, which is not configured for BES; I lose my regular browser and am left with the Cingular Browser. It appears that AT&T has locked at least some of their BIS users out from using 4.5.0.XX and a regular web browser.

I upgraded on my 8700C and now the screen is black. The LED light cuts on, but the screen does nothing. It seems as if it's not powering up. I wiped it with JL_Cmder and reinstalled it, but same thing. Any help?

@ jaymojones: I had the same problems. After lots of effort, the only thing that ultimately worked for me was to reinstall OS 4.2 from AT&T. I REALLY wanted to get 4.5 running, but I decided it was better to have a 4.2 operating system than a brick. If you come to this same place, delete the 4.5 file from your desktop, download 4.2 again, and follow the posts regarding reinstalling OS using app loader. I am not a technical guru, but I think maybe a BES issue? (That is all I can come up with). Hope you get 4.5 going, but there is no shame in going back (at least not much), Look on the bright side - you will have your BB Browser and functioning Google Maps!

it took me far too long to discover that desktop manager or apploader needs to be run as an administrator for the upgrade files to be discovered.

i guess most people are admins on their machine and wouldn't have any problems.

Default problems with applications - 08-11-2008, 10:24 AM

I installed 4.5 a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. I have ATT so I have the same issue with the browser everyone else does.

I have noticed a problem that noone else has mentioned. When using Yahoo! Go and Wachovia's Mobile Banking application that the applications no longer work as they did with OS 4.2. I tried reinstalling them again after upgrading to 4.5 but no joy. The application runs but when I try to make my first choice in the application the only option that is allowed is "close".

Do you have a backup of your device from before your upgrade? If you do, then I would try to restore just your service books. This will overwrite your whole list of service books, so you'll then have to go into the Host Routing Table & register again. This hack got my Yahoo messenger working again after the upgrade to 4.5. I still have the problem of the missing BlackBerry browser service book, however... :(
