Talking OS: 8700 4.5.0.75 / 4.5.0.52 (MultiLanguage/East Asian Lang) - 07-22-2008, 01:20 AM

Software For BlackBerry 8700f(TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.75 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.75
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.52
Software Platform: 2.7.0.66
File name: 8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel75_PL2.7.0.66_A4.5.0.52_Orange.e xe
File size: 63.67MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...3F7A83B1AC75B4

East Asian Language Support version: Click Here.

Instructions for installing:

This OS will work on any GSM/GPRS/EDGE 8700c/g/v/f/r
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Not sure why there would be a missing browser on this. ATT offers the 8700 and will be offering 4.5 soon so everything should work. The browser service book issue usually shows up when you put a device on a carrier that doesn't offer that particular device.

So what's the general concensus on T-mobile sim card safety on this release?

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

.37 was the only version that had sim card issues. This version works great on the 8700.

Looks good, no issues so far and seems bit faster then .37 and .42. Still can't get the RSA softfob going, my only problem with 4.5.

I'm still not getting the BB Browser on the 8700g with ATT service!

I am using ATT and an ATT 8700c and I have lost my internet browser. I do have the Cingular Wap browser but I prefer BB's browser. Any work arounds?

Yes, go to Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit the menu key and select "Register Now."

Already tried that JC. Even went so far as to delete all service books except Provisioning and resend. No luck. I'm wondering if there is a brand specification in the program somewhere?
Also, suddenly I have Voice Notes working on an ATT device that does not support MMS.

Go to the ATT website and resend the service books. There is a specific place to resend the browser service book.

Re-registering the device and resending the service books didn't work for me either. There has to be a way to get the bb browser onto the 8700g while using At&t.

There's no reason for there to not be a browser.

You mean a different location than
BlackBerry Internet Service
?
Are you talking about ATT support website?
A specific place to resend BB internet browser would be the answer but I don't know where to look JC.

Yeah, there should be a place to resend service books from there. There used to be a specific place to send browser service books, too. But it's been a long time since I've been to the ATT BIS page. That could have been on old BIS 1.8.

Ah, ancient history...there's only the resend service books radio button. Nothing specifically for browsers. Any other ideas?

Strange.... I downgraded to the latest att 4.2 OS and it gave me the bb browser. I may have to wait until att releases the official 4.5 OS. I'm happy I got the bb browser back though!

I downloaded 8700M_PBr4.2.1_rel155 PL2.3.0.79_A4.2.1.96_ATT, deleted the vendor.xml, use JL commander to wipe, and when I put ATT back on it gives me the tmobile text message and does not take my ATT SIM card?

I searched and found the download sticky but didn't get much further than that...

Man, what a great upgrade. Even coming from 4.2 the little enhancements here and there made it worth it!

This thread is about OS 4.5--you are asking about 4.2?

I don't know what you mean about "it gives me the tmobile text message".

Is your device locked to another network? Loading another OS doesn't unlock a device. You need to get the device unlocked. Check the link in my sig for a good deal from a reputable unlocking service.

scratch the above...
[1] I formattted (zero fill - 1 pass) and installed XP.
[2] Installed 430_b025_multilanguage_nomediamanager.exe
[3] deleted vendor.xml before running BB Desktop.
[4] installed 8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel75_PL2.7.0.66_A4.5.0.52_Orange.e xe
[5] deleted vendor.xml
[6] use javaloader.exe -u wipe
[7] made sure I deleted vendor.xml in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
[8] used BB Desktop to update 8700G.

It got done with all its booting and such... and it has a text/sms message that says "thank you for purchasng the BlackBerry 8700g from T-Mobile..."

My AT&T SIM does not work... "Invalid SIM card"

There is no OS 4.5 for the 8707, of which I am aware. Yes, you would likely have a brick on hand IF you can even get this OS to load to your device.

Anyone figure out a solution to the missing browser problem on an ATT 8700C? Does the missing browser prevent anything else from working?

Thanks,

Frank

ftlee, fill us in on that issue... I am not aware of such an issue.

To get that browser, you must have a BB Data Plan with your carrier. Do you?

No answer yet. Certain sites like
mobile.blackberry.com
are not accessible without the blackberry browser.
However, there is provisioning for OTA downloads from the Cingular browser now (not due to 4.5)

JSanders,

The Blackberry browser is missing after you upgrade to 4.5 on the 8700C. Yes, I have the data plan. The device works fine (both browsers) with 4.2 installed.

I'm guessing you meant the "Internet Browser" is missing. You only have a "Blackberry Browser" if you are on BES.

Yes JC. Once again I learn more from you than my device manufacturer. The Internet Browser is missing. I did not even know until you told me this morning that the BB browser is different. Now two people here are chiming in confirming your info (where were they yesterday?)
