Hi, I have had this Blackberry 8703e for about a year. Recently a new icon started appearing when I lock the keyboard. At the very top center of my screen, the symbol of a little white square with red stripe on top and dark mark in its middle appears when it is locked. Also there is a number beside that icon. At first it was a 1, then a day or so later it was a 2, now it is a 3 since about a week ago. So what I am seeing on the top center, right between the time and the signal strength, when the keyboard is locked is the number 3 on the left of the little white square with the red bar on top. It all goes away the second I unlock the device, and appears immediately when I click lock again.
What is it trying to tell me? How do I clear it?

The white/black/red icon looks a lot like a miniature version of the icon for "calendar", but I am not sure it's the same because it's much smaller. All I know is its the same color scheme and general shape. But it only appears when I lock the keypad, and I don't have anything on my calendar,so I can't see a connection there.

I also have the icon on my Blackberry screen when it is locked (and ONLY when it is locked). It is in the top middle of the screen - square with a blue line at the top and an upturned bottom right hand corner - also has a blue dot in the middle - mine has the number 16 by it. What is this, what is it telling me and how can I get rid of it??

Hi Char, this is what I've figured out about this icon...it IS the calendar icon, and it is some sort of bug, it's not supposed to do this. What causes it to happen (in my device, anyhow) is if I have a reminder in my calendar for something, and it alarms about it, but maybe my device was off at the time and by the time I turn on the device the time is past, so I didn't "dismiss" or acknowledge it 'in time'. I guess the software doesn't know what to do then, so it sets this icon, and for unknown reasons it only comes on when you lock the keyboard. Even when I go into my calendar and delete, or dismiss, the event that caused this, it doesn't go away. I even once tried removing EVERYTHING from my calendar, but this dumb reminder icon stayed. What I have to do to get rid of it is pull the battery (after I've already dismissed the event). When it restarts after that, the icon doesn't come back.
I'm glad to hear that other people's devices have this bug too.
