Thumbs up Chicago Launch Guests Post Here on Experiences - 11-02-2005, 02:14 PM

Those going to the Chicago launch today, might want to post their experiences here. Hopefully, RIM and Cingular will improve as they go and learn from each experieince what we users are looking for (besides the free 8700 and booze).

Additional pictures are always welcom so take a camera (not a camera phone) and take some good comparative shots. In the holster, on the belt, typing on it, etc.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

Party was good. Kent Mathy and a VP from RIM were speakers. Food was good. Booze was plentiful. Same scenerio as in NYC. Checked in, bags given out as you walked out. Kent said units will be in our hands the week prior to the 21st. So expect a sales call next week. No cameras were allowed so no pictures...sorry!

They wouldn't allow cameras? Why when it is an announced product with plenty of pictures on the Internet? You would think they would want the publicity.

Don't know about that one. Presentation was around 7PM. Dinner and drinks between 6-7+. Checkin was simple. Show up, give them your name, pee in a cup and take a polygraph test. If you pass 2 out of the 3 then they give you a badge and record your attendence.

and unlike NYC, we actually had a lot of nice babes in attendence. As for the device, there was no SIM in the unit I had, so I couldn't test the phone features. Size is nice, no problems typing, very light, screen is phenominal (sp??).

Makeup of atendees were:

40% Cingular Employees
20% RIM Employees
10%: Partners/Vendors
30%: Customers

Can someone who attended the Chicago launch PLEASE let me know if a photo ID is needed to register? I am unable to attend and I'd like one of my peers to take my place.
Thanks.
(Sorry that I posted this first in the NYC launch thread by mistake - there sure are a lot of threads covering this device and launch. It'd be nice to have just one or two.)

I attended the Chicago event last night and was asked to show my ID at the registration table.

I was told by our Cingular rep they will be available for order/in stores the 21st of November, which means they're more then likely already accounted for the first batch and there will probably be some back orders. He assured us that the 10 we wanted we will get, but I won't believe it until I see it.
I'm waiting to be contacted also. I have been told that they will come but I am impatient and want it now.
