Default Migrating 7100g to 8700c - Backup/Restore? - 11-06-2005, 10:19 AM

When I got my 7100, I backed up my 7280 and then did a restore to my 7100. With all the changes to the 8700 from prior BBs I am not sure I should do that, I assume there will be no instructions. Anybody have thoughts on that.

Of course my calendar, memo, and address book will sync. I could just back up messages and web bookmarks. Thoughts?

Data is not the problem here, the roblem may very well be the software. There are many radical changes and upgrades it sounds like on the 8700 and though no one has addressed this issue fully yet I think you may to at the very least have the software recompiled to run on the 8700. I am not predicting, I am basing it on what you see in the computer world, from Windows NT to Windows XP.

Default Data - settings - software - 11-06-2005, 12:34 PM

Yes for sure some software will need to be recompiled. My favorite - Minisafe- told me they would do it within a week of the SDK being out if it was needed.

I don't want to mess up a clean 8700 with various settings that might not be appropriate. I am inclined to a do a very limited restore of messages just to be safe.
