Just ordered an 8700c through Cingular's B2B (877.201.9521). It still showed in their system as "coming soon," but it let the rep. complete the purchase. It was too late to ship today, so I will not get it until Monday at the earliest. It was $449 (no contract). I was told I would be e-mailed in the event something went wrong with the order.

I'm a newbie, what is B2B?

I just placed an order too. $449+ $14.95 overnight shipping. They couldn't find any accessories in the system yet for the 8700... such as the leather holster.

I just tried to order one, and the sales rep, said that they can't find it in their systems? How did you guys do that? Thanks.

Other than my rep dug a little, that is all I can figure. She gave me free shipping, too. She said overnight shipping would not be worth it since they use Fed-Ex and I would not be able to get it on a Saturday.

Rep: The highest the numbers go is 7100. I don't see a 8700c. Where did you hear about it?
Me: Everywhere. This is a long-awaited device for Cingular. Check the web.
Rep: After checking manufacturer's web site - Wow, this looks really cool!
Rep: Sorry, we don't have that phone.

Do I really want to switch back to Cingular?

I call 3 times and they all said still comming soon, and i couldn't place an order.

All the providers leave their reps clueless up until the last possible minute, not just Cingular.

can anyone call and order form the b2b? or do you need some PIN code to identify yourself as business?

My Corp Rep says no way a order has been processed for the 8700c as it is still not available in the system

I tried too, I do have a corporate account but got the it "is not available yet" even after I insisted people were ordering it today :(

Not sasying your are not telling the truth, just saying that my rep says there is NO way.

Even worst is she just called about 20 minutes ago and said the release has now been pushed back another week to the 28th.

Probably. It simply is not in the channel.

I just called to obtain a tracking number as I was instructed last night by the rep. and was told that it still shows "in progress." He then said if I ordered yesterday afternoon it will not be shipped until Monday. So, who knows. But I still have not received anything from Cingular yet saying "psych!"

I'm wondering if those who placed orders are on orange or blue accounts?

Remember, you can actually book and pay for space flights right now. It is just going to be a while...

That may be an excellent observation. I've noticed the past couple of days some screwy behavior with my links on the premiere web site. I have been redirected to several different styles of web pages (one orange with 1 product at a time in a listing) and white, orange and blue pages with 2 products per line in a spreadsheet like layout. The products are also inconsistent, changing almost every time.

I have had other very strange behavior.

Perhaps they are in the midst of some system migrations and some reps are migrated and some are not?

OK, I was able to order an 8700 through Cingular's National Biz Ordering...We have a corporate "blue" account meaning we are on the AT&T side....Still dont know if that makes a diff.

The units are on backorder, but that at least spares me from having to keep calling and checking if they have it or not

A few hours ago I called b2b to order my 8700c. The rep told me that it was not available to order but after pushing for a bit, he placed me on hold and came back to tell me that it was on back order but he could place an order for me. I did so and he told me that the system showed an order they should have received on 11/14. He said that the shipment was supposed to have 800 units in it and had not come.

I tried the website and called this morning. I was told the unit still has a status of "coming soon" and they don't have a price and can't order it yet.

Is today or tomorrow the official start date?

I have always seen and heard the 21st, unless it really is delayed then who knows when.

I have bad news, I ordered my 7100g a while back before it came out, they claimed to have charged my credit card and i waited....and waited.....and waited, caled back, it was never shipped, they made a mistake... no other details

If this is the reason for the delays it really is pitiful as the 8700c will now become the 8700a(?).

I called Cingular B2B and got my FexEx tracking number! Yay!!

But, it is not in the system yet, so I really cannot track it as of yet. lol

I am sure I will be able to later tonight.

John-Fox, that is the best news I've heard all day. And trust me I've been searching for any positive piece of information around.

AT&T sold all their wireless assets to Cingular except the name if I recall correctly. They are not allowed to use the AT&T name, I imagine that is why it all went to Cingular Orange/Blue and not waiting to migrate everything over smoothy.

Well maybe I am wrong as SBC bought AT&T which owns 60% of Cingular. That is nuts.
