It is a pretty solid device, and at one time it was the king of the BB hill, but alas, no longer.

Quite a few companies still use/issue them even today.

The 8700 is the 'tank' among BB devies. We still have a handful of them and they can take a beating unlike many of the newer models.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100 Pearl)

When my Pearl started rebooting for no reason, I picked up my 8700 on ebay for about 50 bucks as a spare until I decide what to do when my contract expires. I've been using it ever since. It's dependable, hasn't caused me any trouble and is as tough as nails. That and no track ball to get all gummed up and a pain to replace. I can live with the limited memory because I have an StevePhone for the fun and games. That and also old school isn't such a bad thing. The 8700 is one of the last business grade BlackBerries. It's a great phone for what it does.

It's a great backup phone that's built like a tank. I swap my SIM into it when I'm doing something that I'm afraid could damage my 8900.

I love it cause I can rob banks with it.

I can use it as a shield and deflect bullets

I can also throw it at people using it as a weapon

I can also use it as a tool to smash open the bank vault.

And people say blackberry's are crap and made of cheap plastic.
