Default short cuts on 8700 - 11-21-2005, 11:40 AM

i was checking out the 8700 simulator and had a question on short keys.

- does the "p" take you to phone

- does "c" take you to compose address page

this isnt working on simulator and thats how i use my 7290

also will 411 and bb light work?

thanks

To enable the shortcuts to work you need to disable dialing from the home screen. In the Phone Options -> General Options change "Dial From Home Screen" to NO.

Maybe because it has a dedicated buttons for the phone the "P" shortcut doesn't work.

I think this shortcut has been replaced by the dedicated Phone button (the green SEND key).

Thanks,

Thumbs down 11-21-2005, 02:12 PM

after some more time on the simulator....

1. i was under the impression that the green "fon send" key would send calls but also send emails, pins and sms messages when in those functions.

is this the case or is the simulator not working right?

2. so they took away short cuts and added smart keys....basically if you know your shorts these smart keys are useless and really not smart at all !

not so hot for the 8700...maybe they should have delayed the simulator and rushed the units out instead...not sure about paying $500 for faster browser, speaker fon (i like) and a "better screen"

i have BB Light installed which solves any screen viewing problems...kudos to BB Light Best app i have along with 411.

I think i might wait this out and not jump ship just yet.

P will goto phone, M will goto messages and so forth, C does not work because there is no more compose icon.
