Default Help a crackberry out... - 11-28-2005, 07:00 PM

hey guys, i love this forum all the information is concise and informative. I have a dilemma, ive had 2 bbs the 7290 and the 7100t but both are now lost because of unforseen circumstances. I am DYING to get my hands on the new 8700 unfortunately i am not in the greatest place to dish out 600 for it. So i am calling all the crackberry brothers, and asking for your help, i am looking for someone who wants to get rid of theirs or somewhere i can get it for 300, i have 300 that i can dish out, will even pay for the shipping and fedex payment. thank you for your time.

Why would you be paying 600.00? I didn't qualify for an upgrade and I got it for 350.00 over the phone.

if you didn't qualify for an upgrade, may I ask how you got it for $350.00? Was that price with a new contract?

Nope. All I did was call the Business channel and ordered one. 350.00 was what I paid. They didn't even ask if I qualified for a new phone or even if my company was a Cingular customer (which they are). They just took the order and shipped it. I was quoted 449.00 at store a day earlier.

I wasn't ready for an upgrade either, but I got mine for 349 and plan to get the 50 rebate, plus the free bluetooth.

Btw, if you aren't a cingular customer, then you would definitely get the cheap price as a new customer. Now your current provider may still want you to pay for continued service, but that is a whole different story

I can't believe that Cingular is charging a new customer 500 bucks for a new activation. Mitch is right. You should be getting this for 350 or less. Although you are right that TMo BB plans are by far cheaper.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I think what he means is that cingular is requiring a 500 dollar deposit to initiate service this would be in addition to the equipment cost of 349.99. A hefty up front cost.

I just got my 8700 from a Cingular corporate store in NJ. It was $350.00 for a new activation and I got a $50 rebate. It's not $500, if it was I wouldn't have gotten it!
There were no other costs.

Now what to do with my 7100i...

What kind of help are you looking for? For someone to buy one and sell it to you at the low price yuo are looking for? No one is going to do that, these things are hard to come by as it is at the moment. Look around, get on the net, make some phone calls, beg dealers someone will eventually look at his status for the end of the month and realise he needs sales and someone is bound to come through. But the bottom line is this, its self help man, be persistent, dont leave a stone unturned. It will come to you on its time. After all this is only a phone, it is nothing more. You have lived without it up until now, a few more days will not spell disaster. If you need a phone so bad go to cingular buy a phone (you do have 30 days, keep looking when you find it return it.) Where there is a will there is a way, but if all your efforts are waiting for someone to come in and hand you one you will be waiting a long time.

The $350 price requires a 2-year commitment to their service contract. It's not just $350 for the phone by itself. Without the service agreement, the price is more like $450. You'd be better off trying to get your hands on somebody's used 7290 or 7100, after they've upgraded to the 8700 and don't know what to do with their not-quite-outdated equipment. Then, you can activate your own service plan without having to buy any equipment...

Default Amazon? - 11-29-2005, 06:28 PM

Why not just go to Amazon and get it for $150 after rebate as a new customer who activates a service plan of $39.99 or higher?

I think you're all missing the point.. I'm guessing that he has less than stellar credit and Cingular wants 500 deposit to give him service.. amazon, any other reseller etc, would have the same issue when they tried to kick it through cingular's site..

Since the phone is 450 without contract, thats the price you need to pay if your credit is poor and you don't wish to have to pay a deposit to activate to get the phone subsidized.

Sorry..
