Default Acura TL and Pairing to 8700 issues - 09-16-2009, 02:06 PM

I have an 2004 Acura TL and cant get the 8700 to pair with the Hands free system. I have cone though the procedure that Acura gives you and enabled my BB bluetooth, and made the unit visable. Once the acura start looking for a pairing I start the BB add device and it dosnt see or list any thing. I know the Acura hands free works as I paired it to another phone.

Could it be an issue with incompatable bluetooth versions?

all help is much appriciated.

Having spent about 30 seconds with Google it would seem that you have to set a password for your Bluetooth kit in your Honda then set your Blackberry to search for it.

Instructions for pairing an 8700 to your 2044 TL are here and read something like :-

1. Power on the phone and ensure Bluetooth® is ON. Please refer to your phone's user guide for steps to turn on Bluetooth
2. Press and release the TALK button on the steering wheel and wait for the "beep" before you speak. Repeat this step before all spoken commands
3. Say "Phone Setup"
4. Say "Pair"
5. Say any 4 digit PIN code for pairing. Remember it as you will need to enter it into your phone later. Some phones have a pre-set pairing code of "0000". Please consult your phone's user manual to see if your phone has this requirement. HandsFreeLink will now instruct you to begin the pairing process in the phone
On The Phone
6. On the Blackberry select OPTIONS
7. Select Bluetooth
8. Press the Menu button
9. Select ADD DEVICE
10. Select device from list
11. Enter 4 digit PIN code from earlier step
12. After pairing is complete, press the Menu button
13. Select DEVICE PROPERTIES
14. Select TRUSTED and press the Menu button
15. Select CHANGE OPTION
16. Select YES
17. Press Escape key
18. Select SAVE
The system will acknowledge it has recognized the paired phone. Pairing is complete.

Between steps 9 and 10 your Blackberry will search for available devices to pair with and your car should appear on the list.

Please note:No Blackberrys were harmed in the making of this post.

That is not the issue I already tired these instructions and actually talked to the acura guys. the phone after you hit add device dosnt show anything in the list. If you are arround other Blue tooth devices it does pair with thoes. The car also pairs with other things. but for some reason these two don't see each other
