Default New 8700R - 09-23-2009, 10:26 PM

I've had an 8700R for three years and after a couple of drops etc., the sound has become kind of "tinny". Otherwise, it's been a great workhorse - very stable. I'm still using the original 4.1 - have heard about the various upgrades but haven't done anything about it.
Now I've received a "brand new" 8700R - 2006 model which has never been used. Wondering how to go about transferring over to this "new" one and whether it will be worthwhile to upgrade the 4.1. Also heard that it could be useful to upgrade my SIM card.
Lots of questions - unfortunately I've still maintained "technopeasant" status and rely on the expertise of others.....
Thanks!
Rob
