Default Inconsistency - 10-07-2009, 05:04 AM

I have long been a great fan of the Blackberry and the ability to sync betwen PC and device is the most important faciklity as far as I am concerned. But, unfortunately, the inconsistency of the synchronisation working is really beginning to annoy me. It works about 60% of the time but doesn't the rest. It always hiccups on synching the Calendar - never the address book or notes. I'm using vs 5 of the desktop software and 4.1 device software (I think). But that's not the point - it works for more tha half the time, so it has nothing to do with the sifteare OR THE CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN THE DEVICE AND THE PC.

Once it stops working I re-install (or 'repair') the software and that usually fioxes it, but it's no way to carry on. Can anyone suggest anything please before I chuck it and get an iPhone. Many thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

I am NOT sure that 4.1 OS is suitable for 5.0 DM. I would downgrade my DM. 4.2.2 may be a good fit. Do not use 4.3.

Thanks for the suggestion - as always, this is a very helpful forum.

I'm actually not 100% sure what version of software I have in the device. The software I'm loading tells me it's verison 4.5.0 (8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel152_PL2.7.0.90_A4.5.0.110_AT&T) , but when looking in the device itself (under 'Options' and 'About', it tells me it is running "v4.10/351 (Platform 2.0.0.143)". The DM is definitely v 5.0.0.11.

Funnily enough, when I had different problems a while back, I was told to upgrade the DM!! Why won't Blackberry (or Roxio or Research in Motion, or whoever they are), just give simple guidance about which desktop software works with which device software - I have tried to find the answers on various 'official' web sites, but it's only here on this forum that I can get any sensible answers.

So how can I tell what OS is actually running in the Blackberry, please, and would that change the suggestion to downgrade the DM?

Many thanks for your help.

Yes, sorry,I meant to say that the software that I've loaded (ie: that I've installed) is version 4.5.0 (8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel152_PL2.7.0.90_A4.5.0.110_AT&T) , but when looking in the device itself (under 'Options' and 'About', it says it's running "v4.10/351 (Platform 2.0.0.143)". The DM is definitely v 5.0.0.11.

Incidentally, just to confirm, when I 'repair' the DM software and reboot, all is well again and it will be until some random time in the future (could be tomorrow, could be next week) when it'll just not accept the transfer of one of the Outlook calender entries to the 8700 (or vice versa) .... and so it goes on!

You can understand my frustration, can't you?

Right, so, you've installed the OS to your PC, but you've not actually loaded it to your phone, otherwise it would say so in the Options-About screen.
