Default 8705 g General Questions - 10-29-2009, 07:53 PM

I sold my 8900 pre Bold 2 so I bought a 8705 to hold me over til I can get the full discount in Dec.

I have a few questions:

I see others fixing or installing the wrong software..so I figure I will nip it in the bud and ask. Can someone give me the proper links for what I need as far as Desktop Mgr Software and Device Software. Thanks

The latest Desktop Manager software should work, correct? I did do a sync once, and it was fine, but I deleted it wanting to get them both properly updated.

I was unable to plug in the usb and get the BB to come up in Windows explorer. Are you able to access the 8705g thru Windows explorer?

Lastly, while setting it up, the Blackberry was cutting off for about an hour, it was halfway charged, I charged it for about 20 min, not all the way charged, but now it SEEMS to be OK.

Also it was in the period where T-mobile had just added the Blackberry feature and I was waiting for the internet. It may be crazy, but could trying to access web features while not available have caused a short or something?
It did happen when I opened up the browser.

Anyway, help with why that may have happened, software links, and whether or not you can access the 8705 via windows explorer would be appreciated

Thanks

I was able to find the software. Thanks to anyone who has read and was going to point me in the right direction.

But as far as ideas as to why it was shorting out? and if it can be accessed via Windows explorer would still be appreciated

Are you sure it is an 8705? Not heard of that one before. Also please update your profile to reflect the current device.

You can't access the device via Windows Explorer. What you probably saw in the 8320 was the SD card, not the device itself.

Trying to access the web wouldn't cause a hardware short. Was the charger plug tight?

Thanks. Not heard of that one before. Assume that it is the same as an 8700?

got it working perfectly...found a company who actually had NEW 8700's also. Just picked one up to hold me over til dec when I am eligible for the full discount.

a couple of misc questions. with regard to google maps 3.2
First, if I click on a recent location, it says edit, but it gives me no way to edit it, I have to type in a new one or it applies it to my current to or from location. can you actually edit the location

Next how do you delete all locations...am I recalling correctly (i googled it and couldn't find) you have to reinstall google maps to delete them? or is there a way?

Lastly, I want to protect the bb even tho I paid next to nothing for it and am getting the new one in dec...if I get the best skins ever or similar, that WILL NOT let it fit in the given OEM holster will it?

thanks again for all your help in this post as usual

Eric
