8700g backup to a 7290....both on O2 UK -

Hi all
I have 2 Blackberrys
The 7290 is a backup device.
I plug my 8700g into the desktop manager and make a backup file.
I then plug my 7290 into desktop manager and Restore that same file........
It wont copy my address book, there a alot and don't want to write them all again if I have too.
Am I just missing something simple or just cant be done onto such an older device.

What exactly do you see? Error messages? Do the other databases write to the 7290 except contacts, but you see nothing out of the ordinary during the restore process? How about using destop manager to clear the 7290 contacts data base and then trying the restore again?

There is an error message right at the end but cant remember what it says as very quick.
But will try what you suggest.
Thanks for that as just restoring over old data on 7290 so will clear that data now and try again.
Text messages don't backup but not sure if they do anyway. But everything else seems OK....just the contacts not updating.
Maybe delete everything on 7290 and reset then restore.
This is my first blackberry but love them already. I just dont fancy an IPhone

Tried what you said and cleared it.
Texts backed up ok.
says at end of restore....
Error restoring database(s)
"[Default Service Sector]" 0 of 4 entries restored.
Another problem of course is if I use the SIM to copy the contacts I will have to resort them as the SIM can only hold name and number and nothing like the info I have on the Blackberry.
I Connect up the 8700 to Desktop Manager and I had to save just the address book from the 8700 into a file.
Then connect the 7290 and go to the RESTORE section in the "Backup and Restore" and restore just the address book I have just saved.
Few options missing on the 7290 like the pics for phone numbers and birthday etc but can live with that.
Still cant understand why it wont do it from a whole device backup file.
Hey Karl, just to be clear, you did a selective backup of just the contacts, then did a selective restore of just the contact, right? That is curious. I've been wondering if there is something about restoring backward that far. I mean, the 7290 has much less RAM, for example. I assumed from the standpoint of backup/restore a blackberry is a blackberry. But good job!
That's right, just a backup of the Address Book. Slight difference in the data you can hold......like birthday and a pic but backed up OK.....which is great.
I go to "Advanced" first to make the backup file, then use the "Restore" and was fine.
Got there in the end. But would of been better from one Backup file from whole device.
Maybe 7290 just a bit too old for a backup from a 8700.
