Unhappy Paging and the 8700 (cingular) - 04-22-2006, 11:58 AM

I've been searching on here for a while and I'm on cingular.... Well as of last weekend they shut off the old TAP gateway my company has been using to send epages to us on our blackberrys... Unfortunatly our epage system is quite old and it only supports TAP, not snpp or email (which is unfortunate). I found out from cingular that I can now get charged $9.95 a month using thier enterprise paging system and it will work, but I'll have to do this for all of our blackberrys and other cingular devices. $$$

I'm wondering if there are any alternatives out there. I have found a few results from searching on here, but I'm wondering if anyone is using anything different to get pages to thier blackberrys (specifically the 8700 although I suppose this could apply to other blackberrys). I would love to send stuff to [email address], but my paging system needs a number to dial up to.... and right now it looks like http://www.enterprisepaging.com is cingular's only option.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

-Brian

According tho thier terms is says "9.95 per device activation fee" it does not state anything about a monthly fee. I still think the activation fee is steep but cheaper than paying every month.

I thought that too until I went to thier FAQ, and read the monthly charge: http://www.enterprisepaging.com/faq.jsp#15

Oh and I wanted to clarify one thing, we used to dial a toll-free paging gateway through cingular, and on the enterprise paging part, they don't offer a toll free number....
