Basically in any profession there are folks that just don't pay attention or really even care to pay attention to what they are doing, this just affects us more cuz this is the area we deal with the most. same with defective phones in general..

Plus you usually dont get the same warranty with refurbs... and the discount because it is refurbished does not always make it worth it.

I bet we could have a forty page thread all about disgruntled girlfriends and I'd be one of the first posting.

LOL@Katrina.

I've used a couple refurbed items here and there and have never really had any issues. Ultimately, each his own I guess.

Mine has 2.. Racquetball is the 1st problem because I play 4 to 5 times a week and then we have the BB... She gets mad when I surf the net or check email while at the movies! What's up with that? LOL

The 8700g is still too new for referbished units to be available for insurance claims or warranty replacments, so fear not for now just enjoy your 8700g at T-MO, as for Cingular well , thats just one reason why I left that company.

Good for you. I had a refurbished Dell Axim X50 PPC to replace the first one which took a huge tumble from my bedside tray onto a carpeted floor (cradle and PPC). Refurbished Dell died two months later. It's sitting in a box in my garage along with TONS of other electronics I need to sell.

Default Try Safeware! - 04-24-2006, 03:29 PM

Try safeware! I pay less than $300 a year for five devices!! Laptop, BB, Moto Rzr, ipod, Digi Cam. No deductible...no questions asked. They mail you the check there isn't a hassle of new vs. refurbished. This saved me twice! ipod and laptop had to be replaced. As a med student I don't have lots of extra cash to replace devices, and I certainly don't have tons of money each month to make payments on insurance. Let me know what you think...

The reality of the situation is that some consumers are more "Risk Adverse" than others. If you have the disposable income to purchase a phone right out regardless of contract, then insurance and deductables are something that might be a small concern to you. If you are like most of us, you want some re-assurance that your purchase will be protected.

Look at it like this; Who on here has a luxury vehicle? I want to see you drive off of the dealers lot without insurance. Not only is there immediate depreciation, if there is an accident you are still responsible for the car note (unless you are Scrooge McDuck, The Donald or a host of other well off individuals who have the purchasing power to buy outright).

How risk adverse are you?

BTW........All products are overpriced when you think of the actual cost of producing in volume. Economies of Scales, you have to love it.
