Sure? All 8700's are exactly the same under the skin. That's why you can run anything from an Orange OS, to Bharti, etc. Its the same device.

We have one at work. We got the g unlocked, wiped it, loaded it with Cingular's OS and it works just like a c device.

does that unlock the phone itself (for use with any SIM) or just for that specific SIM?

Unlocking a GSM device generally refers to removing the network or subsidy lock to allow the use of another carrier's SIM card.

I bought an unlocked, unbranded 8700g from bigdongers and use Cingular. I had an 8700c which I gave to my wife (the dust was driving me mad but doesn't bother her).

I have to say, I absolutely love my 8700g - it works great with Cingular. By far the best phone / pda I have every carried. Only thing I slightly miss is the Cingular theme, but no biggie!

Default How to use Jibi's instructions to install Cingular theme? - 08-17-2006, 08:03 PM

I read Jibi's sticky about installing other themes. I'm very new to installing anything, and he points out over and over in his post that his instructions are not for novices. Can anyone provide any guidance for beginners? I have a Mac, not a PC -- does the install require a PC or can it be done OTA? I can get access to a PC if absolutely necessary.

Also, I noticed that he posted all themes except for Cingular's 8700. Where can I find that one?

Thanks!
