Question Opera Mini Browser Uninstall? - 05-01-2006, 06:06 AM

Hi,

I tried the Opera Mini Browser. Installed fine, works, sort of, but I'm not overly impressed as it is not well integrated with the BB user interface (eg Wheel) and lacks bookmarks (or I did not find them) and such. I quite like the BB browser, actually.

But now: how do I uninstall it? (You can see, I'm a newbie to BB).

Thanks, Mixx

Hello there.

Find > options|advanced options|applications|opera mini|delete

I believe on some themes that it may it may be: Find > options|applications|opera mini|delete

In other words that latter doesn't have 'advanced applications'

That only works for me with the Opera 2.0 release. I installed the Opera 2.0 thinking it'd overwrite the previous Opera release ... now they're both installed and there's nothing listed for the earlier Opera release under options|advanced options|applications ...

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Have you tried a hard reboot (remove battery) if you tried that and it is still on the BB try connecting to desktop manager and run the app loader. That should find it as an unrecognized app and remove it from the BB

Go to options, advanced options, applications, modules, go down to opera modules delete oldest or smallest version number. Exit out then go back to applications and you can delete existing version. Worked for me anyway.

Henare;

I have the same problem as you. I unstalled two different versions of Opera, thinking the second install would overwrite the first...it didnt.

I was able to remove the second version...but I cant remove the first. I go to Options/Advanced Options...and it isnt even listed!

What do do now?

Easy 20 min fix! Back up and usb wipe with javaloader then recover from back up.

I had the non-uninstalling Opera Problem - the post above about going in to the modules worked perfectly. Give that a shot before doing anything drastic.

The opera apps have only one module so they are easy. It's called operrette at the start of it. Delete that from applications or modules if necessary.

Opera Mini 3.0 was released yesterday ... improved some things, added better support for pictures, and RSS ... and better security, seems faster than 2.0 did.

Same problem, I removed Opera 3.0 from the advanced settings menu but cannot seem to delete the 2.0 version. I can't find "modules" under advanced settings>applications. Any thoughts on how to remove Opera 2.0?
