Default Possible to remotely unlock a Blackberry? - 05-08-2006, 02:11 PM

I bought a 8700G from a user and when he talked to his Customer Support they supposedly unlocked it remotely without him having to enter a Unlock code manualy?

They had him on the landline phone and while he was on the phone the rep said she unlocked it remotely. Is that even possible as I have never heard of that.

They probably send your activation to the network and your service books and referred to it as "unlocking."

I don't believe you can remotely unlock a BlackBerry.

Its not possible to remotely unlock the 8700 models although you can buy unlock codes for them. Its only possible to unlock 5,6 & 7 series remotely <edit>Sorry. Just re-read this!! My description of remote is using server software and a cable, not OTA like this</edit>
