Question This an 8700c Bluetooth bug or by design? - 05-22-2006, 08:46 PM

Folks, I am up in arms and need some guidance. I use a Moto 850 bluetooh headset with my 8700c and have been dealing with a most annoying issue now and need to know whether this is a bug in my software or a bad headset.

Is it normal to not be able to keep the headset signal while reviewing or composing an email? Use case - I go to message screen and go to type an email, I recieve message "bluetooth connection lost" 5 secs later "bluetooth connection enabled" - this repeats every few seconds and makes it IMPOSSIBLE to type an email as it doesn;t type while the message is up and then only shows every other letter. It is at the point now wehere I have to take the freakin headset off completely and shut it off so I can type an email or read one.

Kind of defeats the purpose, huh? I am using the base Cingular OS 4.1.0.194.

Is this something fixed in Bharti and something others have seen or is my MOTO headset just meant for the glue factory?

Thanks

hmm i think thats a new one?!

Points for originality!

I would guess its the headset? but go to a Cingular store and have a rep link his headset up to your BB and test it out! that will give you an indication of what device is to blame =)

Very interesting...I, too, use your combination, but I've never tried to compose an e-mail while my boom is open and earpiece is on.

I may have to experiment a bit to see if I can replicate your issue...

I am having the same problem and i have tried 4 different BT headsets. Cingular rep told me to try a software upgrade but no change. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks!

That's original. I had a different setup last year with 2 BBs and 1 headset but I would have the same issue as yuston except my BB would give me no message, just 3 beeps before BT disconnected and hung up the phone.

cary, it could be your phone. Does it work without the headset properly? This was the ONLY way I got rid of the problem I had. I had to go back to the OEM headset that came with the phone. I also could not get the headset to pick up a call. I had to answer the call from the phone and then activate the headset with the same hangup results.

Thanks Erica - the phone works just fine without the BT. I am going to try to go through the warranty folks and see if they will send a new phone.

So it sound slike I have a unique oddity here - I will go to a store and see if another BT headset works fine, but I look forward to some of the feedback from folks testing this out to get your thoughts.

Thanks to all.

Same combination works fine for me as well. I also use a Moto HS820 and Jabra BT-250V with no problems.
