Default Google Talk notificatioin icon missing - 05-23-2006, 03:10 AM

Anyone find that the Google Talk BB client doesn't always throw up a notification icon on the screen (top/banner area)? I often get an alert but with no icon visible when I get my (locked) BB out of its holster...

Will try. I guess that means others don't see this problem?

Wirelessly posted (8700: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/123)

Un-installed. Re-installed. No better. Maybe it's a theme thing or a settings thing? Will have to experiment some more...

Seems the icon doesn't show when the BB is holstered AND you remove it from the holster quickly. As if the logic associated with auto-opening mails when you take the BB out of it's hoster quickly has got in the way, and clears the IM icon?!?!

So if you get the vibrate/beep, take the BB out of its holster quickly, you can't see what caused the alert.

I had this problem and reinstalled gtalk and since have not had the issue. Wish I could be of more help but as we all know google talk is beta like all of google's products it seems.

Completely reproducable by me. Seems to be when you use the BB so it auto-locks on holstering, and pull it from the holster within a few secs (a minute?) of an IM message coming in. There's no icon on the (locked) home screen. Works if you lock it manually (or don't use it holstered).

RIM support finally said it's an OS bug to be fixed at some point in the future... I'm on T-Mobile UK's 286/291 release.

Default Missing Google Talk Icon - 08-20-2006, 12:00 AM

I don't ever put my 8700 in a holster, but I have seen this error. Once the icon went missing, it never came back. A re-install did not solve this. I had to uninstall, and then re-install to get the message icon to reappear.
