Default Question About Printing - 05-23-2006, 04:11 PM

Is it possible to connect an 8700c to a printer via USB or other method to print out web pages, emails, etc. If so, does it require 3rd party software?

I don't think that's going to work. That Brother printer uses print drivers made for Palm & Pocket PC and as far as I know Bachmann has no BB support available

I got the link from another BlackBerry forum.

DynoPlex Delivers a Universal Printer Interface for Brother MPrint Printer

Brother International Corporation and DynoPlex, Inc. announce the development of a Universal Printer Interface -- Brother's latest addition to its BlackBerry printing software for the MPrint MW-140BT mobile printer featuring Bluetooth wireless technology. The Universal Printer Interface provides the ability for independent software vendors and corporate IT departments to enable printing to MPrint MW-140BT from BlackBerry applications with little or no development effort.

The best option I've seen are email-to-fax gateways and use a fax machine as your printer (handy at clients' sites). I.e., you forward the email to email address like [email address] and it prints out a copy of the email body and attachment to fax number 203-555-3333, which is a artibrary number you specify when you sent the email.

There are a number of places that sell email-to-fax bridges, like faxaway and efax.com (no affiliation). You pay a monthly fee and per minutes charges (long distance) of course. Plus you have to have access to a fax machine (doesn't have to be yours).

That's the best solution I've got. Otherwise use a different device.
