Default Memory & Storage - 05-24-2006, 12:41 AM

First post; greetings to all. I am relatively new to the BB community. I have an 8700C with Cingular Wireless. I live in San Diego, CA.

My question(s) center around the amount of available non-upgradeable storage (technically memory I believe) on the BB 8700C. It is my understanding that it is 64MB flash memory, 16 MB SDRAM. I presume it is shared (from one pool). Since there is no memory slot for upgrades, and being an inexperienced user, I am concerned by the amount of memory available, and wonder how common it is to have my needs exceed the amount available. Plainly put, could I run out? Let's say for example that I store somewhere around 1000 business contacts and download five or six applications. Approximately where will I be free, useable memory wise? Also, is it common for users to run out? If so, how frequently have you come across this? Any solutions, suggestions or other thoughts relevant to this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Sincerely,

cmosttl

When your BlackBerry starts to run out of space, it will automatically purge the oldest messages from the handheld. Contacts and email dont take up too much space, as they are just plain text. Apps\ringtones\themes will eat up the storage space very quickly. You can check how much free space you have anytime you want, just go to Settings > Options > Status.

Someone was talking about have 4000+ contacts on their BB in another thread, so I think your 1000+ will be safe.
