Is there any users that have real experience with or common knowledge of using a BB8700C through Cingular and synching it with a Cox Cable pop3 E-Mail account? The issue I am particularly concerned with is the ability to respond to incoming E-Mail with the BB while using this account, as well as generating new mail on the BB to be sent out under the same Cox Communication's account. I have encountered difficulty performing similar tasks with other PDA/Smartphone styled devices in the past. Receiving E-Mail has never been an issue, just sending or replying to it (under Cox) has.

Incidental: I may have further on this. Cox may block tcp port 25 (SMTP). Here is the URL to a Cox Communications Knowledge Base article pertaining to it:

The answer to your question, though, about the "from" address is: you can set the "from" address to your cox account, so even if you reply from your BB, that's what they'll see.

Then click on "Profile", then "Sent From Address". You can change that to your Cox account, once you POP it to your BB.

When it comes to multiple "from" accounts, you can't do it without BIS 2.0, which Cingular hasn't upgraded to, yet. However, you don't seem to have to worry about that just yet, if at all.

Ah yes, makes sense to me now (I think). Thank You very much for your speedy help. Essentially BIS is a proxy that actually manages the sending of the message and the 'From' address or field albeit unknown to the recipient would technically be like an alias or label under it. Hope this is moderately correct.

Way to much spam with cox. You might do better with gmail. That's my opinion. If you just want to check your email you can do it remotely from your browser and you can respond there also without ever "popping" the mailbox. That's what I do.

I am on T-mobile and have nop problem with the BB polling my Cox account. No issues sending either. I am using the central cox pop and smtp server.

No spam issues here!

I have a treo 700 and I want to configure it to receive my cox email. I called cox and they don't know what information to put in the "ip address of the email server: note: this should be the web outlook internet address", and the cox domain. This is in southern nevada (las vegas, henderson, etc...). So, I need the email server ip address and the cox domain name. the palm doesn't ask for a pop or smtp address just the web outlook internet email address according to the documentation. Cox has very weak 1st level support, and they don't know how to locate this information - Go Figure??
