Go back into your sim book and then click the track wheel and go to "copy all to address book".... That should do it...

Do you mean when you are trying to call someone that you have more then one number for in your address book?

If that is what you mean, it should come up like
Fax:1234567890
Mobile:9876543210
Work:7418529630
Home:8529637410

Then you just pick what one you want to call..

when i get my address book up to pick a number i can't tell which is the home #, cell# etc. it doesn't put a letter beside number for me to distinguish which is which.

Default ready to return this thing : adddress book - 05-27-2006, 03:34 PM

Sorry to post this here but I can't seem to figure out how to start a new thread question.

The addresses from our outlook 2003 does not sync completly with the BB. Out of 1150 addresses ony 660 have transferred. I spoke wirth T-mobile customer service. They said its because our database is corrupted. We gave them the benefit of a doubt and reinstalled all the software and re-imported addresses. Our IT guy is convinced the database if fine as it syncs with other devices just fine. I think the blackberry software just isn't very good. Any advice on fixing this. Perhaps a way to the address book to work?

Sounds to me like you have multiple address book entries for rhese contacts, not multiple phone numbers in a contact's entry. Edit your address book so that there is only one contact for each person, and put the different numbers in the proper field and it will work correctly.

Hope this helps.

Try this, Open your address book and select a contact that has multiple phone numbers. Then press the Trackwheel and select Call <Contact name>. Now tell us what you see. You should have a dialog box that says "Call Which Number?" with a list of all numbers available and what field the number is in.

Hope this helps.

Because it was designed that way. It works the same way as Outlook does with addresses and phone numbers, in order to be compatible with it. If you want to list each phone number separately, you will have to have multiple entries for each person, with adding the type of phone in the name.

Hope this helps.

The reason it doesn't distinguish the number is because there could be more than one number per name. If you entered two numbers for one contact and you scrolled over to it how would the BB know which number to show you?

If you like only having one number per name I think it would be best that you set up your address book so that each name has one number.

One place where it does distinguish the number is when you check your call log. It will tell you the name of the person who was called or you called and it will indicate with a letter which number was dialed or received by denoting it with a letter:

(W) Work
(H) Home
(M) Mobile

As long as you entered the number in the right place when entering the contact the appropriate letter will show up.

This is the way the Motorola UI is and I think it's disorganized. I like having all of my contact's numbers under the one name.
