Default Ringer no longer works - 06-06-2006, 12:10 AM

The ringer and speaker for my wife's 8700c "seems" to have suddenly quit working. I thought she might have accidently changed a setting to prevent it from ringing...but I cannot find it. At the moment, the speaker phone does not work, nor does the phone ring. It vibrates and the phone still works, still gets email, etc.

YES....it is set for vibrate+tone

I cannot even get the ringtones to sound when going thru the list to pick one out.

Thoughts?

If you're using the stock 8700c that came from Cing without upgrading the software to Bharti or Telstra then the ringtone is tied to the speakerphone volume (commonly refered to as a bug). Make a call, press the speakerphone button (to the right of the M key), and make sure the volume of the speakerphone is up, somewhere around 75%.

It sounds like a hardware issue. The speaker on my 7100t blew and I had to have it replaced by TMobile. I would suggest getting a warranty replacement if it's still under warranty.

I had the same problem and Cingular returned it.
