Accidently dropped my 8700c today on cement. It landed face down and scratched the heck out of the left side of the unit and a key or two.

The screen was untouched and the unit still works. Does anyone have any idea how much it will cost to replace the body and keypad?

Beats the alternative of buying a new device at full pop...

This is going to be probably a completely idiotic question...but which housing is promobility offering for the 8700? the c? g? r?

I can't tell from looking at it which housing is being sold.

I prefer the 02 styling for the 8700, presently have the "BLUE" T-Mobile. is it possible that the housings/covers are interchangable?

try ebay.com and see if they have a dummy 8700c, a T6 torx screwdriver and do the repairs yourself without forking over hundreds of dollars for a repair. But, only do this if you are comfortable with it.

Not all dummy units will work, so this is not a good idea.

I have sent an email to promobility explaining the damage and asking if they can replace the front cover and the keypad.

I am awaiting a reply with a rough estimate. Hopefully they will be able to fix it for a reasonable cost.
