It is not possible to load one variety of BB (7130) OS onto another variety (8700). Many have tried. Gotten as far as frying their BBs.

There are checks and balances in place to ensure this doesn't happen.

For the benefit of lurkers (took me a minute to figure out what this was about) ---- the Cingular 8700C does not receive MMS unlike the T-Mobile 8700 which DOES allow for MMS.

But not specifily for Cingular. There are multiple later versions. Cingular was the first to have the 8700 and it came with 4.1.0.195 (download Package 4.7.0.175). I don't think this is a OS version problem but set on Cingulars account settings. Too many Cingular BB users have upgraded OS vers and still don't have MMS capability.

Hope this helps.

Correct. The lack of MMS is a service provider issue, not an OS issue.

So if you have a Cingular branded BB (unlocked) and you put in a T-mo sim card, you can have MMS capabilites?

If Tmo has MMS, you should be able to.
