Default messenger problems, specific to me... ;-] - 07-01-2006, 11:42 AM

i have downloaded yahoo messenger for blackberry...i already use yahoo messenger on my desktop and use yahoo email.

when i try to sign in on my bb, it says "Please visit www blackberry.com/go/yahoo to activate your handheld for Yahoo! Messenger."

so i go to the link and verify the crazy codeword they put, after i agree with all the terms, it prompts me to register or sign in...so i sign in and then it takes me to My Yahoo! page. so then i go back to the messenger in my apps and it says the same thing again...i did this at least 3 times last night. what gives?

so in an attempt to try something new, i downloaded the webmessenger trial, very cool. yahoo signs in no prob, but my msn is having problems. i tested the correct user name and pw on my desktop...but when i attempt to log in, it says user name or pw are incorrect...what gives?

thanks sirs

If you have Cingular, Yahoo Messenger will not work unless you use a third party app as you mentioned. Yahoo Messenger by itself, is not available to Cingular customers.

I'm on Cingular with an 8700c with IM+ and have Yahoo, AIM, MSN, and Google Talk all working (one connection each). The IM+ client is a one time purchase as opposed to other (excellent) clients like VeriChat and WebMessenger which require annual fees, but have some really nice extra features. If not already mentioned above, check out BlackBerry Instant Messaging FAQ.

BTW - you can use the Browser based version of Yahoo IM (go to http://mobile.yahoo.com on your Internet Browser), but it's worth it only if you're really desperate.

Sorry I can't give you any help with your VeriChat problem. I tried it but don't remember having any problem with it. All I can say is to remember that an MSN client's user ID is the entire email address - not just the part to the left of the @ symbol of the email address like on Yahoo and AIM.
