Please don't shout. If you need a camera and MP3 and all that stuff, get the Sidekick.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
It would really depend on why your using the device. If email is the most important thing, I would say stick with the blackberry. if security of the device is important (data), stick with the blackberry. If you want MP3, bluetooth and camera, the go for the sidekick3. Remember, the sidekicks email is NOT as reliable as the BB.

i also have a sidekick due to a contract
in the 4 years i've had a sidekick, the push email service of Danger has been a mess throughout
always up and down and never truly reliable
if you want the fun factor...the SK is the way to go
if you need always on email, BB is it.

It depends on what you going to use it for.
I have Sidekick 2 but I am getting rid of it and get myself a Blackberry 7290. One of the reason I am doing that is, you can put the SIM card from the Blackberry and put it in a MDA and than use it as a modem which I want.
This web sites have charts to compare the two phones. I can not provide a link to it because I am new here and I can not post links until I reach a certain amount of posts. But do a search at phonescoop.com.

Get stay with the 8700C. You won't regret it trust me. I had the sidekick and it sucks I sent it back the next day. The screen is the same as the sidekick 2 its basically the same thing but it has bluetooth and mp3 and edge. Same features and lame screen.

I understand you are a teenager. You want which one. I want being honestly with you. I am 41 yrs old and deaf since birth. Myself fluent america sign langauge for the deaf community always have sidesick. BUT that lot of many sidekick have more problem with like stuck wheeltrack, easy flip break, not enough loud.... And more etc. Like that. I have been used this my old color sidekick. Some of the people want order to replace new one sidekick from broken sidekick. Myself not satisfied with sidekick. Soooo these "X" antanna won't work too long. I talk with saleman about recommonanced this blackbery 8700g or c is better by the guy did advice me about it. Well some the people're their opinion. That is fine. Up to your decide which one your feel want that. That is okay.

I find the BB to be much more reliable than the SK. I had the SK Color and the SK 2 which I gave up for BB, and I would never go back. The SK network would go down too much, then no internet, no email. I also found the download options very limited on the SK as I could only put on what Tmo would let you. The BB you can load on whatever you find out there you want.
Both SKs I had delveloped charging problems. We used to use my SK2 to play games on until it simply would no longer charge, and it was not that old. As the battery is built in you can't just buy a new one.
I would never recommend the SK to anyone, but from a teenage viewpoint, the SK is probably cooler than a BB, but you will not get the preformance and reliability out of it.

What I heard from other people complain about new SK3 is not enough louder and VERY limit Applications in few weeks ago. I am very surprised... excalty as same my color sidekick and SK2, too. Frankly, I am glad to have new BlackBerry 8700 have plenty of mooooore applications as unlimit! Sound is very powerful louder.. plus unlimit wallpapers.... I wonder why those of the two different companies are BlackBerry VS sidekick. Sound like HUGE war on between blackberry and sidekick...

hey man, make a list of the MUST have features and follow that list to a T.
Blackberry is an awesome tool. Kicks have never had much appeal to me. Being unsecure is also a BIG barrier to me getting a kick.
They are basically AOL devices, and I'm not a fan of AOL...LOL
If you can be a bit patient you can have the best of both worlds
According to some reports Mp3, expansion slot, camera all coming to blackberry

I'd say get a Sidekick. You are young and probably gonna get bored with it in no time... and you can sell it on ebay ..lol
For me the only good thing about it? it has higher resale value than a Blackberry and that is because BB's are constantly updating their lineup of design and technology... and the 'not-so-latest' one won't be able to compete pricewise (taking into consideration the carriers giving great deals when you signup a contract).
As for making an impression with an older woman (such as myself...LOL), I wouldn't even give you a second glance.

As a 17 year old, you'd be plenty satisfied with the Sidekick.
But personally, I like my Blackberry because of the wide variety of third party applications, free applications, and the ability to CUSTOMIZE my background, ringtones, all of that jazz... myself! And NOT having to pay TMo for more stuff.

If you do get a BlackBerry, please be sure to research both the capabilities and limitations of the BlackBerry device and service. You don't want any surprises.
The Sidekick makes a great instant messaging tool.
The BlackBerry make a great push email tool.
Without the BES server, sometimes the BB is a frustrating experience (sometimes it still is even with BES). Just make sure you know what you are "getting" as you go into the deal. My personal vote is BlackBerry, even for teenagers or twenty-somethings still in school.

I have the same problem. I'm still trying to decide if I should get the Blackberry 8700G or the Sidekick 3.
I have the Sidekick2 and was so dissapointed with it that I switched the the Treo 650. i wanted Camera, video, mp3 all that stuff.
If I do get the 8700g, I'll still have my Treo 700p.
So what Should I do? 8700g or Sidekick 3?
I'm not a teenager though. I'm in my late 20's. :-D

8700 definately. Yes thers no media player, yet. But my Bb is the only phone iv not managed to crash sofar. Excluding the times iv accidentally deleted 1 to many files off it via javaloader, but thats the geek inside being curious about how far it will go before it breaks. I just wish it didnt need a seporate bb data package along with the general internet one here.

Out of curiosity, what programming platform is the SK3 on? Do they make third party apps for it? This is a question that you may want to ask.
I have loads of Palms OS stuff before I went to BB 8700c. With the O2, there are tons of apps for it.

Its a propriotry (however thats spelt) OS, so not much going for it in comparison with say a palm or wm device, but due to there unknown popularity ther prolly on par with a bb. But its not what there is its the quality. Iv yet to find a mobile device with all the apps I want at acceptable quality, afraid to say palm is the closest but then again they have been at it 10 years.

If you were disappointed with the SK2, then you're going to be equally disappointed with the SK3. It offers evolutionary changes, but nothing revolutionary, making it essentially the same device in a slightly redesigned shell.

Third party apps for the Sidekick? HA! Yes, but you have to pay a hefty fee, or get a "developer's license" to access all the 3rd party apps that haven't been approved by T-Mobile and download them... big pain, trust me.
The ONLY thing I missed about my SK2 was the keyboard and intuitiveness of the messenging service. Honestly though, Blackberries can also IM, plus we have Google Talk (although I'm happy T-Mo kept the MSN messenger on the new SK3), and we have a host of other customizable capabilities.
I agree; if you weren't happy with the SK2, don't get the SK3. Wait till they incorporate something REAL great... like video (maybe soon, I believe the SK3 is capable of it), a better resolutioned screen...
I do miss snapping random photos, but a music player on my cell phone is definitely not something I want, or need.

lil off topic but mistWalker whats your avatar from?
back to it, as said the sk2 an sk3 are esentially the same device with a few upgrades but the os is almost identical in them from what iv read.
Just wondering why you'd need both a treo and an 8700. I know there both different devices but there also both relatively big devices to carry round together.
