Default New Application - Flashlight - 07-04-2006, 08:33 PM

As I navigated around the dark hotel room last night, trying not to wake my GF, I used the screen from my 8700 to light the way. It was semi-useful actually.

Wouldn't it be great to have an application that made the screen all white, and to max brightness, so an 8700 could be used as a "flashlight"?

Even easier. Throw up a white web page on a site somewhere and use that as your Home Page. Need bright light? Go Home.

Voila.

I have the side convenience button set to browser, with the home page set to Google. Then again, I carry a light with me.

It exists:

Personally at $1.00 I think that it is overpriced. As noted above, the Google page in your Browser will work just as well.
Not sure if this app maxes brightness but pushing the power button will do that when "navigating" with the Google page.

Someone else posted about quicknote and I've used that myself. It uses the Q for a shortcut and I put the brightness on high with an all white screen.

Brilliant. Why didn't I think of that?
I actually just started using Quicknote a few days ago (great app - and free!). It's perfectly suited for this and, as you noted, even has a hotkey for fast access.

Wirelessly posted (Cingular-Blue 7290: BlackBerry7290/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/101)

Now, if we can just figure out a way to kill the light in the fridge!
