Hey all, I just recently got my 8700 to work as a modem on my t-mo network. I'm curious to know if anyone knows how I can setup the apn settings to work for both Ramble IM and for the phone to operate as a modem. I have to keep switching the apn settings back and forth between the two to get the applications to work. It's a pain in the behind.

I have gotten my 8700g to work as a modem and I have installed and used Ramble IM. I only have my APN set as wap.voicestream.com and both activities work perfectly. I have my APN set that way for Ramble IM but there was no instruction in the modem tethering thread to set your APN as anything. You don't need to set the APN to get the BB to work as a modem.

Well, according this this thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...em-laptop.html

The APN setting for T-Mobile should be:

TMOBILE USA Users (Success!)
+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

And in order for Ramble IM to work, the only APN setting that works is wap.voicestream.com. Does anyone else have any input on this?

That's not the APN setting on the phone. That's an initialization string on the computers settings for the BB dial up modem. Trust me, set your APN to wap.voicestream.com on the BB, don't change it, then try both tethering and Ramble IM (at different times). They will work perfectly.
