Default Delayed emails - 07-20-2006, 02:26 AM

I just switched from T-mobile with a 7230 to cingular and an 8700. I was getting my emails almost instantly with my old blackberry, but now, they are delayed, sometimes by 10-20 minutes....

Is there anything that I can do to decrease this delay?

To my best knowledge (which isn't good by the way ;) delayed emails are usually the cause of a RIM problem or possibly with your service provider. It happens to everyone from time to time. Like the other day it was about an hour or so before I got any emails and I knew I had emails waiting. But if it happens everytime, then you need to call Cingular and then if they can't help, they should transfer you to RIM. You'll be on hold a while so call from a land line and settle yourself in front of the TV or something...

I think if your using another address through POP, it takes that long because it has to poll for your mail, and I really think Cingular has a time set for polling, like every 15 minutes or so.

You cannot expect them to have it poll every 2 seconds like some people do with their own personal mail. If the delay is really that big of a deal then forward your mail to your cingular blackberry address or consider going with BEs.

The delays are related to the new BIS 2.0 that RIM is having problems with. Has been going on for over a month. RIM says they are patching to BIS 2.1 in a few weeks. Hopefully this will resolve the delays.

Welcome babalaco - there are quite a few of these discussions going on right now:

As you can see, you're not alone! Seems to be a lot of Cingular and T-Mo people nationwide in the same boat...

Currently without 'Berry. Enjoying my Nokia N73.
