Unhappy I need help with my 8700c - 07-23-2006, 08:15 PM

I just got into a rain storm with my one week old 8700c bb. My question is....since it is so new, do I have a warranty for this with Cingular??? My husband bought it for me for my birthday last week and I now don't know what to do! Can you help me??? I immediately took the battery out and I am in the process of drying it out under a lamp now but I am sure if I saved it in time! Please help. I use this for work religiously!

the answer is maybe, here is what i would do: if it does not work at all then take off the battery cover door and at the bottom left there is a little (usually) white square sticker, if moisture has gotten into the device the little sticker will be red. if the sticker is red then moisture is probably your problem and will continue to be, call the warranty dept and they should ship you a new one, they may squawk at the water mark but usually you'll be ok...

Promobility told me that the regular cingular color case does nto have any branding, is that not true?

I don't know that there's a "regular Cingular color case". I ordered an 8700c front housing from ProMobility, and it has the Cingular logo and name on it, which is to be expected, since it's a "c" case.

any 8700 housing will work as a replacment as long as you have a front and back even the 8707 housing will work. just make sure you transfer the mic and reciver to the new one if not equiped on it, and use compressed air to blow the lens and sceen before puttin it back toghter.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Well, I guess that answered my question. I was going to ask if anyone had tried to swap cases between the 87G and 87C.

The Promobility replacements that I received had RED (water activated) stickers on both. I assume that is how they received them.

I just received my 8700 housing (black) from promobility today, it has the Rogers branding on the front. Will my Cingular bill start coming in Cdn dollars now?

I am not sure where to look for the water indicator. At the bottom of the back case, inside the door there is a white square thing by the bottom/left screw hole. Is that it?

Having owned both 8700c and 8700g, the keyboard on the 8700c is convex, which makes the middle part rises up a bit towards you, versus the 8700g keyboard where it's convex, and the center actually bows inward. I find the 8700c keyboard easier to type on.
I'm putting the 8700g on ebay this weekend.

I replaced my Cingular silver with a Roger's black case today, it wasn't too bad, I couldn't get to this site to see the detailed instructions as my wife was looking at a doll site and I couldn't wait I had to put it together 3 times before I got everything back in it, there are about a half dozen little pieces you have to keep track of, but it really wasn't bad.

I like the look of the black much better, strangely the keys feel better, it seems smaller, but I know it is just me

I just did the 8700c ==> 8700r housing swap. I am in love all over again. I had a 7290 and this new 8700r is great.

It finally looks like a Blackberry again!

Default Where can I get a 8700c replacement keypad? - 08-04-2006, 09:04 AM

Hi this is my first post but I need to find out some info related to this thread. I have a 8700v originally supplied by Vodafone UK. I cracked the housing and ordered a replacement housing from Promonbility. It arrived ok. Got the original casing off and was fitting the new 8700c then I realised the keypad is different. Promobility don't list replacement 8700 keypads as being available.

Therefore does anyone know where I can get a 8700c keypad. I am happy to order from any supplier anywhere in the world. I have postal addresses in the US and UK so no problems with where its from.

I recently bought a navy, unbranded case for my 8700g from ebay for £29.99. Took about ten minutes to change and my BlackBerry looks brand new again. Can't post links yet but the ebay username was "ask.david". Hope this is helpful.

I just found a guy on ebay with 8707v, 8700v and 8700g housings.

Anybody know which one of these would best fit an 8700c?

Hi S.Howard, I saw that you have successfully switched housings. How did you get the speakerphone internal speaker out of the old back housing - does it just pull out or is there something else you have to do?

Thanks,
Aston
