Default What font do you use? - 09-22-2006, 02:33 PM

I'm a newbie to the BlackBerry & PDA world (yesterday!), and I just can't decide on what font to use!

So I was wondering what you guys use!

Select the 'System' font and save it. Then pick whatever font you want and it will be smaller than the listed smallest size.

You can tell that it's smaller by looking at the settings screen. With BBCasual on the normal size 7, there are 13 options listed on the screen. After doing the 'trick' there are 15 options listed on the settings screen.

Does this mean I'm the only person in the world who likes BBCondensed? I tried BBClarity, but I swear that it makes my eyes crawl.

How can you guys have the rounded Clarity in size 10 bold! That's like Braille.

I use SimpChinese size 7.

Tried BBMillBank at 7, but it squishes the lines too much (too little space between sentences). I am not Chinese, but the font is well balanced, and at size 7, very readable.

BBMillbank Tall, 8, Bold, Antialiasing.

Can someone explain the difference between antialiasing and no antialiasing? I can't figure it out.

Thanks.

It's basically "font smoothing". In fact, in OS 4.2, that's how it's listed under your Screen/Keyboard options. They changed it from "antialiasing".

Oh, I like that, brother. I think that far too few people have explored this great font. I set up some of my friends on BBCasual 10 Bold Antialiasing (which is what I use) and none of them have switched away. Nothing is clearer for reading long emails and everything else looks ugly to me now.

am I the only one this trick doesn't work for?

I use BBMillbank 7 and if I switch to system and switch back the smallest font I still have is BBMillbank 7. sucks cause the old 7280 i could go down to 6.

works for me....set you type to 'system', then save it.

Then go back in and select a different font, you will then have more size choices associated with the chosen font.

Thats the trick. It SAYS 7 but if you look in your messages list you'll see that you get a few more lines displayed.

If it's working, with BBMillibankTall/7 you should see all the screen/keyboard options without scrolling.
