Cool Deleting old emails from 8700g - 09-26-2006, 04:25 PM

I just started using an 8700g. Approximately 30 old emails are in my inbox and will not delete. I have tried all of the suggestions that I have found on here. Any suggestions? Very frustrating, never had this bad of an experience with BB.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Have you wiped the handheld? Go to options security general options and click the trackwheel and go to wipe handheld.

On my 8700g if I go to Options, then Security Options, I have no Wipe Handheld option available.

Look in your saved folders. I wonder if you have "saved" them to that folder, and they still show up in your message list as well.

Yes, I have looked in saved and was able to dump any saved emails. These old emails seem to be resist any deletion.

Have you tried using the backup utility in desktop manager to backup just your messages, then wipe your messages with the backup utility, and restore?

well, try this "one answer to all problems" wizard. Do your deleting of your e-mails... then do a hard reset (while the phone is still on, powered, pop out the battery and put it back in after 30 seconds).

Let it power back and up and see if they are still there.

When I was wiping my 7290 this afternoon, I noticed that there also wasn't an option to "wipe handheld" in the list; however, if you press the trackwheel, the option screen that pops up has a "wipe handheld" option.

Hope this helps~

Security Options --> General Settings. Then Click the Scroll Wheel and a menu will appear. Select Wipe Handheld from there and follow the prompts.

Hi,

I think I have found where that option is:

Options\Security Options\General Settings

Scroll down till the end of the screen. Under "Services" heading, you will see "Desktop"

Select Desktop and push the track ball inwards and you will see "Wipe Handheld" option along with some others.

"Services" heading won't be available after wiping it out; until you activate your BB with BES again.

Hope this helps.
