Very nice resource! Hope I never have to open up my 8700g, but if I must, I'll be consulting this guide. Well done!

Mine is red and really didn't get wet - seriously. We had a week of heavy rain and although the phone was dry, I think the high humidity turned the indicator red.

The placement of this indicator is giving false positives. There needs to be another one deeper in the guts of the phone.

That was the worst walkthrough I've ever seen.

You left out few important things and suggest using a dentist pick/ice pick as a pry tool? Are you mad?

I'm definitely going to redo this and post up soon.

Just curious if anyone knows where to buy a repacement outer shell if I were to want to replace mine.

I bought my 8700g used. Its in fairly good condition but there is some noticable wear along the sides. If I can get another shell on the cheap I may be tempted to take mine apart and swap them out.

I have taken apart and assembled many 8700 devices using the T6 and a flat head screwdriver to replace the housing (sometimes just the front). Unfortunately, there always seems to be minor unsightly damage (on the back) as a result of using the screwdriver to unhinge the back cover. The "prying device" you have pictured.....where can I find such a tool? Thanks.

I have the same problem on mine too. The battery sticker is completely normal though.

Is this not strange?

eBay: Brand New Blackberry 8700r 8700g fit housing faceplates (item 260040254880 end time Nov-09-06 10:28:29 PST)

Thats an 8700c front with an 8700g back? If you look at the walk through, the 8700r has the same back as the 8700c.

The auction says that its for an 8700r/g model - but I don't think the 8700g or 8700r keyboard will work with that front, only the 8700c would.

Thoughts?

My phone sticker is all bright red. My battery sticker is all pink-ish with a bunch of "X" markings on it.

I've never gotten the phone wet, so...these things are definitely screwy.

By the looks of that water indicator square your bb might have gotten wet.

that square turns from white to red when i comes in contact with water.
