Default help please! data connection refused? - 10-07-2006, 10:28 AM

Hello all,

I'm getting a message on my front screen that says data connection refused? I've never seen this before. It happen for the first time last night when i was out at bar. If i turn off the phone or wireless it goes away, but when i turn the phone or wireless back on, it comes up within a few minutes...any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

ps-when i just tried to go to a webpage it said there is insufficient network coverage to process your request, try later? wtf

If you haven't had issues before, try a hard reboot. Cntl-alt-del twice in a row or battery out. Otherwise it may in fact be coverage issues in your area due to a problem.

I just got this on my 8703e for the first time and prior to the 8703e I had the 7130e for about 6 months and had that maybe 2 times....
I just rebooted and it back to normal...sometimes network maintenance can throw things off...But you know the old adage, "when all else fails....Reboot"

I had the same problem when I was trying to get sprint to fix my account. When they changed my NAI name to a new one and resent the service book, that message went away. Even though it says something about cov erage, it is not coverage related.

Search here for the VZ code that you plug in so it finds your phone. It's 3-4 letters/numbers. It's a VZ thing. Can you hear me now.

I'm not sure if your talking about the *22899, which is supposed to download updated software to your phone and get you on the network. I tried that, i just spent about an hour on the phone with tech support, got nothing accomplished, of course. So now someone is supposed to call me back within 24-48 hours from upper level tech support.

This is pretty horrible, having gone through 4 q's with data problems. Now they expect me to wait in my living room for them to call. I'm sure they'll call while I'm out at dinner or something. I just hope they can get this issue resolved, when verizon service works its good. When you have to deal with customer service its just depressing though.

The problem sounds as if they do not have EVDO provisioned on your acct...Call them and tell them that...If they tell you that it's automatically there with the BB unlimited plan, DON'T BELIEVE THEM, because they are wrong...Tell them to delete your acct and re create it, then add the BB unlim and make sure EVDO provisioning is there...

and then re activate..

should do the trick

Don't feel bad, plenty of us have had our time with tech-support. I now have a direct number to their supervisors office. So, when the next board member is getting jerked-around, message me, and I'll pass along that number.
