Default Live 8705 shots! - 10-30-2006, 05:57 PM

Well, I got my paws on an 8705 today, and as most everyone knows, there is nothing really special about this device other than being HAC, but these pictures certainly answer the question as to whether the device would have 4.2.

I did a search, and as far as I can tell I've got the only pictures out so far, so here they are, shown first on BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community, shown first by dc/dc.

I believe the phone would be My Faves compatible also.

It looks like an EDGE version of the 8703e....same faceplate, keyboard and hearing aid compatible.

As I mentioned in the post, nothing is new about this other than being HAC.

I did not see a MyFaves app, but that doesn't mean much as that is a SIM dependent app, and I don't have MyFaves service.

No, as you can clearly see from the pictures it is running Palm OS and has a dual-mode iDEN and HSDPA radio.

Just a bit of info on the MyFaves service here in the US. It is not reliant on the phone. But T-Mobile is requiring that you have a MyFaves phone set up on the account.

So, what you can do is get the cheapest MyFaves phone and then stick the sim card in whatever phone you want. You can manage the 5 numbers from the My Tmobile website.

That is true, but there is a myFaves application that is installed OTA on the 8100 if your SIM is provisioned for the service. Since I don't have mFaves, I was unable to test whether the 4.1 OS on the 8705 was capable of receiving the myFaves app.

The myFaves application is installed by default with OS 4.2 - on ALL handhelds (even non-TMO devices). The provisioning by TMO for the service simply enables the application, which is otherwise dormant.
