I have a friend that owns an 8703G, I myself own a 7130e. I have been helping him with some of his BB questions but I am stumped on this one. His password keeper program wants a password to get into the program. I tied the standard 1111 but with no results. Now we are down to only 4 more attempts out of ten to get into the program. What do I need to do to reset his passwrod to get in the program so he can use it to store his passwords.

I'm guessing you meant the 8703e. Have you tried the last four numbers of his phone number?

I will try the last four digits of the phone number today.
I will check the numbers on the unit again but I swore it was 8703G. It was puchased by a company for employee use from somwhere in Europe!!

If it was purchased in Europe, it can only be an 8700 or 8707.

Uhmmm... Who cares where it is from, guys. 4 more times then you lose the data stored in the keeper. Start over and make your pass something you will remember this time. Cheers!

can someone please explain what the password keeper does? I can't figure out what it's for really. Is it useful?

Well, it stores confidential information on the BB. You can put passwords, credit card information, whatever you like. And if someone takes/picks up/steals your BB, they can't get into Password Keeper unless they know the password for it!

But seriously the password must have been set by *someone*. When you get the Blackberry it is not set, it is up to you to set it to something and not forget it.

Correct. The first time you use PW Keeper, it prompts you to "Please choose a new password" and to "Please confirm your new password"

With all of the irregularities (e.g. My friend bought this CDMA phone in Europe where there are no CDMA providers, etc) I'm somewhat doubtful that the current 'owner' is the one who set the initial password - or else he would have surely remembered it if he used it on a regular basis to access the passwords stored in there.

SO IF I TRY 4 MORE TIMES I THOUGHT THE PASSWORD KEEPER WOULD LOCK UP AS IF AN UNAUTHORIZED PERSON WAS TRYING TO GET IN??

After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the PW Keeper should wipe all of the password info stored in it, and reset itself to the 'unused' state where you can create a new password and input your data.

Thanks for the help all. The guy that I am helping had no passwords in the unit yet so I did the ten tries and it started over. I put in a password he could remember and all is perfect now.
