Hello all,
Is there any way to store word files on my 8703e? Or is there a bluetooth thumb drive available to let me read files from that device on my blackberry? I thought that it would be easier to view docs on my device, but there isn't really an option to add a memory card, like a PDA. I need to have a lot of docs available to me when I am on the road.

Sounds like a great idea - not sure if such a BT device exists, but it sure would be cool!

Problem is, even if the device exists - I'd guess with 99% certainty that the BT profiles that would be required to connect the device are locked down on the BB - I'm assuming it would utilize OBEX

Even if there were a bluetooth thumbdrive, the 8703e can't transfer data via bluetooth.

I'd post a direct link here but I can't yet because I don't have 10 posts on this forum (actually this will be my 10th I think). Do a search on "8700g with USB flash drive" and you will see replies to my post. I got an 8703e instead of 8700g, but I'm sure they are the same regarding this matter. Why you can't do this is beyond me. BB needs more flexibility in some areas.

New models coming including the 8100 will finally allow some type of data transfer with the expandable memory and Media Manager, although I don't believe it will still be able to support a bluetooth thumbdrive.

RIM's rationale for disabling most BT profiles is to enhance security. If OBEX was enabled, it opens the door for people to push malicious code to your handheld via BT if it is not configured properly.
