Folks, I have a new 8707v and before every alert tone or ring tone, i am getting an unwanted tone which appears to be three quick pings. I have changed the tone in the menue (and I am even getting these unwanted pings in the menu selection process). I have done a soft reset. I have taken out the battery and put it back etc.This is driving me mad as I never had the issue on my previous 7 series model. I spoke to Vodafone and they never heard of the problem...Can anyone help? Garret

This is happening on my new Sprint 8703e as well and I have even had the phone swapped out for this problem. I have a feeling it is a software bug as it doesn't happen on a co-worker's Verizon 8703e or my Cingular 8700c.

I have contacted Sprint's advanced Technical Support and they had no idea and would not connect me to RIM Tech Support : (

I am going to see if someone at RIM can help me through a phone number I just found. I will let you know if I get a fix for this.
