Default Bluetooth connection to laptop? - 11-21-2006, 07:36 PM

Hello all,

I'm looking to find out if on the 8700c I can connect to my pc using a bluetooth connection and have access to what? Dialing calls? My unlimited Data plan via internet connection?

I'm using Cingular and have EDGE in my area.

Thanks

Default Bluetooth connection to laptop? Reply to Thread - 11-25-2006, 10:04 AM

If you happen to be on a BES 4.1 server at work, then there is something called "Least Cost Routing" or Wireless Bypass. This allows you to use your pc connection for Internet activity if you happen to be in a low signal area. You can connect to your pc via Bluetooth or usb. I find at my house, where the signal is poor, I still get my emails and it saves my battery. Phone calls don't go out thru this mechanism, just the data portion. If you happen to be on a metered data plan as opposed to unlimited, this can also save you $'s because you are bypassing the Carriers network.

Are you sure your not just using the desktop manager to sync with emails the laptop is receiving. If your getting them on the pc why move them to the BB? just wondering!
