Default Using my 8700c as wireless modem for my laptop. - 11-23-2006, 09:51 AM

I have searched this, and got very confused in different posts regarding using a 8700c as a wireless modem for my laptop. I have been looking for a while and got frustrated, so here I am posting this.

Can someone please point me out to the right threads or just reply here in how to do it?

For your reference, I have a 8700c, on the Cingular Orange plan with unlimited data.

There was a specific thread about the Orange plan but see my tips doc and see if you can get it working that way. Also search for Sharkmodem. There are no further data charges with that program otherwise you will get them on Cingular.

I just used the connection manager and it worked flawlessly. You can load it at most cingular corporate locations but they won't let you have a cd that's the easiest way I found, you just load it and everything work right away no headache

For the connection manager... do I bring my laptop to cingular? or they load it on the bb?

Default bring your laptop - 11-24-2006, 08:33 PM

Call first to see which store has an open one then bring your laptop down and they will let you load it there. Or if can get internet access for about 30 min to an hour depending on speed of connection you can load it off of the cingular web site.

sooo..I had a little trouble with all of this using a 8700c/7130c with unlimited data plan in tow and called cingular today. They told me you need to have a plan that cost near $80 to make this work... a real wtf...ya know? I followed directions setting up the modem and network connections (including making sure the " " " were right. DL'd Connection Manager and installed and removed it three times...etc., etc. (I die hard). but $80.? what a POS. Cingular has got to be kiddin' (but they got me).... BOOOO.
